The theme for National Library Week, April 11-17, is “Communities thrive @ our libraries.” This is not only an opportunity to pay tribute to our libraries as centers of learning, it’s also an opportunity to give thanks to our local librarians for their knowledge and expertise. Thank you, ladies, for all you do!

When Daniel Bladykas discovered a 60-plus-mile skateboarding trail from Esom, Ga., to Smyrna, Ga., he immediately grasped its fundraising potential. Dan and Bill Gremler, both 2003 Mattituck High School graduates, have launched “Skate for a Cure” to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a cause close to their hearts. The young men have raised $1,500 to date. You can help with a donation by visiting firstgiving.com/skateforacure. For more information, contact Dan at [email protected].

I was astounded last week when I drove by Suffolk County National Bank in Mattituck and the sign read 89 degrees at 3:33 p.m. This beautiful spring weather makes for an enjoyable spring house and yard cleanup.

Have a good week!
