The April 1 story about Dr. Antoinette Notaro and her use of Zerona treatments to remove fat deposits from patients incorrectly stated that the fat is emulsified. Rather, the procedure reduces fat in the cells by creating a microscopic pore in the cell wall that allows the lipid to escape and be metabolized and excreted by the body. Patients wear paper bikini underwear provided by the doctor during the procedures. Patients are required to exercise 40 minutes per day while undergoing the treatment.
