Jeffrey J. Hunter Jr.

Jeffrey J. Hunter Jr. of Southold died April 2 at the Lee Memorial Health System Trauma Center in Fort Myers, Fla. He was 27.

Born on April 24, 1982, in Riverhead to Nancy (Clancy) and Jeffrey Hunter Sr., he graduated from Southold High School in 2001 and had been employed in the family business, J.P. Hunter Co. in Riverhead.

Predeceased by his father on Dec. 14, 2009, and his grandparents John Hunter and George and Nancy Clancy, he is survived by his mother, of Southold; his two sisters, Jessica, of Southold, and Jillian, of Pennsylvania; and his grandmother, Eileen Hunter of Aquebogue.

The family will receive friends today, Thursday, April 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where vigil prayers will be conducted this evening. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow, Friday, April 9, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue by Father Marian Bicz. Interment will be at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
