This Friday, May 21, is National Bike to Work Day. Every car ride you take emits 3.6 pounds of pollutants per mile into the atmosphere. By staying active, we can live healthier and help our environment. The SHS Environmental Club, led by adviser Jim Baglivi (who rides his bike to work on a regular basis), is challenging each student and faculty member in Greenport, Mattituck and Southold to a competition: Everyone who rides to school on May 21 will receive a free bracelet when they sign in. The school with the most participants wins.

All intermediate tennis players are invited to an informal doubles “drop-in” at the lighted courts on Carroll Avenue in Peconic every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning June 1. Contact Rose Anasagasti at 765-1786 or 236-3227 for more information.
