WORTH NOTING Painting the town

Riverhead’s 14th annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival, sponsored by the East End Arts Council, will take place Sunday, May 30, from noon to 5 p.m. (The rain date is May 31.)

In addition to street painting, storytellers Ken Corsbie and Regina Ress will weave colorful tales inside a storytelling tent; artist-in-residence Linda Carlsen will lead a group workshop in archetype mask-making; and there will be a drumming circle; hoop dancing; raffles; face-painting and arts and crafts for children; and an art exhibit and sale.

The day will also celebrate local musicians, with performances by Elizabeth Lowry, Urbanoid, Exit 70, Dan Bailey and Living Rhythm, Shari and the Instigators, Liza Coppola (who is also emcee), Constituenz with Clifton Torres and Scott Hobson. The Riverhead Building Supply Choir will provide a spiritual lift at the end of the day.

Admission is free. Street painting squares will be available for $20, including materials, on the day of the festival. Funds raised support scholarship opportunities at the East End Arts Council’s School of the Arts. For more information, visit eastendarts.org.
