William W. Knoeller

Former Southold resident William “Bill” W. Knoeller of Stockton Springs, Maine, died May 2 in Boynton Beach, Fla. He was 86.

He was born Aug. 29, 1923, in the Bronx to William and Florence (Roth) Knoeller. He served in the U.S. Navy on the Ben Franklin.

A member of the Stockton Springs American Legion, Mr. Knoeller enjoyed boating, fishing and being with his family, according to a family statement.

Predeceased by his wife, Ann, and his sister, Mr. Knoeller is survived by his children, Dorothy Davidson of Boynton Beach, Fla., Barbara, of Melville, and William, of Eastern Long Island; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family received visitors May 19 at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast, Maine. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, May 20, at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
