William H. Fischer

William Henry Fischer, age 91, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Mr. Fischer formerly resided in Manhattan, Quogue and Greenport.

Mr. Fischer was born June 9, 1918, in Philadelphia, Pa., a son of the late George L. Fischer and the late Anna Evelyn Ingram Fischer.

Mr. Fischer was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he worked in advertising for Redbook and Ladies Home Journal magazines.

His wife, Dorothy Wagner Fischer, and his brother, George L. Fischer Jr., predeceased Mr. Fischer in addition to his parents.

Survivors include his sister, Nancy Jane Meyer of Myrtle Beach, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Westhampton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Peter Sulyok and the Rev. Ann Van Cleef officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport.
