SOUTHOLD PECONIC SENIORS

I am a wee bit late (a week) in writing this column, but it would have been a lot later if I hadn’t awakened in the middle of the night and remembered my obligation. So here I am at 7 a.m. Monday morning writing like crazy. Our guest at the first meeting in March was the supervisor and the second guest was a producer. We are getting to be a class act.

Marilee Scheer, president of North Fork Community Theatre, was our guest. It was her second visit; her first time she was a delight and this time she did not disappoint. On her first visit she spoke about the advent of the theater group and about her family and others putting a great deal of time and effort into making this theater so spectacular. This time Marilee did a dissertation on a couch and its many uses in life and also in many shows. Right now, “110 in the Shade” is the upcoming musical, but after that will come the always wonderful “Kiss Me, Kate,” which Marilee is producing, with actors ranging in age from 14 to 22.

At our May 13 meeting we will have a chinese auction to earn enough money to enable Paula to rent the large grill for our summer picnic. Please bring at least one new or nearly new item or else an antique worth thousands. You may bring more than one item if they are in great condition.

Never stop praying for our men and women in uniform, and keep that flag flying high.

See you on May 13.
