Lee Allen Diack, 77, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., died Friday, June 11, at Hospice at the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in New York on Jan. 4, 1933, to James and Ella Diack, Lee graduated from Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, N.Y. He attended Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pa. Mr. Diack enjoyed a long and accomplished career as a salesman and business owner in the textile industry in New York City.
Lee’s first wife, Carol Schleunes of Baltimore, Md., died suddenly in 1970 in Wilton, Conn. Lee and Carol had four children. He later married Gail Wheeler of Toms River, N.J. In 1979, he married Missy LoMonaco of Huntington, and they were married for 31 years.
Lee made many lasting and lifelong friendships from his childhood and adulthood. An avid golfer, one of Lee’s most favorite pastimes was traveling with his sons on many golf vacations throughout the United States and the British Isles. He also enjoyed skiing for many years with his family and friends.
He took great pride in the many accomplishments of his 15 grandchildren and enjoyed many piano recitals, Little League games and graduation ceremonies.
Along with his beloved wife, Missy, he is survived by his six children: James Diack of Geneva, Switzerland, Robert Diack of Pelham, N.H., Susan Mercier of Edgartown, Mass., Thomas Diack of Katonah, N.Y., Robert LoMonaco of Columbus, Ohio, and Jason LoMonaco of Peachtree City, Ga., their spouses and 15 grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 26, at noon at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. Burial will follow immediately at St. Patrick R.C. Cemetery, also in Southold.
