Friday fire at Mattituck pub

No one was injured when a fire flared up at The Broken Down Valise Pub on Pike Street in Mattituck Friday afternoon, according to police officers at the scene.
Most of Love Lane and Pike Street between Love Lane and Westphalia Ave. were closed shortly before 3 p.m. after police received a call of a fire and a large amount of smoke billowing out from the bar, according to Mattituck Fire Department members.
Second Assistant Fire Chief Vincent Tirelli, who was in command, entered the building with other firefighters to conduct an investigation after the smoke cleared. The building’s exterior appeared intact.
Love Lane was still closed as of 3:30 p.m.
