* A representative of Suffolk County Office for the Aging will offer free individual health insurance counseling at Mattituck-Laurel Library Tuesday, July 20, 1;30-3 p.m. Call 298-4134.

* Dr. Barbara Prestano of Peconic Ear, Nose and Throat will discuss Our Ears and the World of Sound at Peconic Landing Friday, July 23, at 2:30 p.m. It’s the first of a three-part series and will deal with how the ear works and what happens when a patient experiences a hearing loss. Call 477-9600.

* Betty Philipp, a life coach from New York University ands nutritionist from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, will discuss controlling sugar cravings on Saturday, July 17, 4-5:30 p.m., at Custer Institute in Southold.

* Diane Radigan, who is Peconic Landing’s employee of the month for July, has turned multitasking into an art form, according to the senior lifecare community’s spokeswoman, Paula Quintieri.

Ms. Radigan manages the reception desk, demonstrating a high level of customer service and organizational and administrative skill. She leads the reception team, emphasizing coordinated communication so that the resident services department is able to be responsive to residents’ needs. Ms. Radigan also supervises the transportation schedule, coordinating an average of 500 trips to and from the Peconic Landing campus each month.

She has just taken over responsibility for operations at Brecknock Hall, which is becoming a cultural center serving both Peconic Landing and the surrounding community. Her efforts have resulted in nine events and almost a dozen classes in art and music education offered through an affiliation with East End Arts Council.
