Southold-Peconic

I’ve seen many of you enjoying the remaining weeks of summer in a variety of ways: Strolling through Greenport, spending time at the Polish Town Fair in Riverhead, shopping at the Southold Village Fair, relaxing at the beach and cruising to Block Island, to name just a few.

I enjoyed chatting with our neighbors Bill and Pat Milford on board the Peconic Star Express last week. They were visiting Block Island for the first time, along with their friend Denise Rathbun of Greenport.

Bill Milford is one of a handful of people who help to keep our local roads clean while they’re out walking. Thank you to Bill and everyone who pitches in to keep our town beautiful.

I’m delighted to wish two Southold couples all the best on 60 years of marriage: Nancy and Bob Pettit celebrated Aug. 19 and Victor and Beverly Cierach on the 20th. Congratulations!

Happy birthday wishes to Ken Poliwoda on Aug. 27; Sue Donovan on the 28th; Penny Payne on the 30th; Rick Hall on Sept. 1; and Scott Mangham on the 2nd.

Belated birthday wishes to Ashley Ann Hilary, who blew out 10 candles on the 24th; and Jimmy Woodhull on the 25th.

Congratulations to Ken Poliwoda and the Peconic Lions under-11 summer baseball team for winning the National Division Championship!
