WORTH NOTING Exhibit benefits EEAC

An untitled painting featured in ‘Victor Elmaleh: A Large Life in Small Paintings’ at Kapell Gallery in Greenport.

East End Arts Council in Riverhead will be the beneficiary of an exhibit on view at Kapell Gallery in Greenport. “Victor Elmaleh: A Large Life in Small Paintings” opened Saturday, with the artist in attendance. Mr. Elmaleh, born in Morocco in 1918, has led a varied life in the United States, as a businessman, philanthropist, athlete — he’s an avid handball, tennis and squash player — and self-taught artist. He began painting seriously in the late 1960s, and has had numerous gallery shows since.

One-quarter of the exhibit’s proceeds will be donated to the arts council. The show continues through Sept. 6.
