Desmond Penny

Desmond Penny of Glen Cove died at his home Aug. 31. He was 87.

He was born May 24, 1923, in Dublin, Ireland. He lived in London and Brooklyn before moving to Glen Cove to raise his children. In 1957 he married his beloved soul mate, Dorothy (nà e Davies).

A self-taught artist, writer and actor, he worked as a typographer and graphic artist in New York City until his retirement.

He is survived by his beloved wife; sons, Nick (Natalie), of Bayville, and Stephen (Diane), of McCall, Idaho, and daughter, Caroline MacArthur (Doug) of Southold.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Southold. The Rev. Peter Kelley will officiate.
