Ronald G. Johnson

Ronald G. Johnson of Jamesport died at Hospice Inn in Melville on Sept. 9, 2010, at the age of 73.

He was born in Astoria, N.Y., on March 23, 1937, to Louis and Veronica Johnson. A graduate of Riverhead High School, he enjoyed a career of 43 years as an operating engineer with Bay Cranes. As a crane operator, he worked on the construction of the World Trade Center towers.

Mr. Johnson was a member of Local 14 Union of Operating Engineers and a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck, where he was a CCD instructor.

He is survived by his wife, Angelina (nà e Prostamo); three children, Ron Jr., Frank and Maria; two brothers, Louis and Richard; and six grandchildren: Brett, Kacy, James, Anela, Katie and Mali.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck by Father Joseph Staudt, with assistance from the Ministry of Consolation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes.
