Cutchogue-New Suffolk

On Labor Day weekend, North Fork Country Club and more than 4,000 other golf courses participated in Patriot Golf Day. Golfers nationwide have raised more than $5.4 million in the last three years for the Folds of Honor Foundation. After serving three tours in Iraq, PGA professional Dan Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot with the Oklahoma Air National Guard, started the foundation. “We have lost so many soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice,” he said. “America can come together in the spirit of golf and have a dramatic impact. We have an opportunity to make a difference for the families who have made the ultimate sacrifice.” The foundation has also awarded more than 1,163 post-secondary educational scholarships. Donations to support this cause can be made at patriotgolfday.com/donate.php.
