Clara A. Bjerknes

Clara A. Bjerknes of Southold died at her home Sept. 3. She was 90.

Born May 29, 1920, in Cambridge, Mass. to Alf and Margaret (Horgen) Bjerknes, she was a graduate of Adelphi University, and had been a biologist at Brookhaven National Lab.

A former Smithtown resident, Ms. Bjerknes had lived in Southold for 50 years. She was active in the Southold Historical Society, Southold Garden Club, Cornell University Extension and the Bonsai Society.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Harris of Southold.

Funeral arrangements were handled by DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home. Cremation was private.
