A Greenport man, who was allegedly found with crack cocaine in his car, was arrested on Sound Drive in Greenport on Oct. 20. Robert Nugent, 39, was reportedly sitting in his car at the end of Sound Drive when town police found him at 6:55 p.m. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and taken to headquarters, where he was held for arraignment.
A motorcyclist and his passenger were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital Sunday night, after they were involved in an accident with a car at the intersection of Hortons Lane and Traveler St. in Southold. Peter Dicandia, 40, and Sharon Dicandia, 41, both of Southold, were traveling northbound on Hortons Lane just after 11 a.m., when they were hit by a car driven by Joseph Pelis, 69, of Riverhead. Police said that Mr. Pelis failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of the motorcycle, causing the collision. Mr. Pelis, who was uninjured, was charged with failure to yield the right of way and driving an uninspected vehicle, both violations.
A homeless man was arrested for trespassing Sunday afternoon after he was found in a house he was specifically told not to enter.
John Kirchner, 56, was allegedly found in the Greenport home just after 2 p.m. though the owners of the property told him several days prior that he could not enter the building, according to police reports. Mr. Kirchner, who police said was homeless, was charged with second-degree criminal trespass. He was held overnight for a morning arraignment.
