‘Forever young’ benefit deemed a success

Friday night’s Forever Young Foundation dinner/concert to raise funds for the restoration of Greenport’s Third Street basketball court netted $2,100, according to organizer Crystal Anderson.
The benefit, dedicated to the memories of Corey Freeman and Jefferson “Naquawn” Treadwell, who were both killed in separate motor vehicle accidents, included a dinner at the Greenport Firehouse, followed by a concert at Townsend Manor Inn.
“It was such a great success,” Ms. Anderson said. She is hoping to raise $10,000 she believes it will cost to renovate the courts and, with police help, make the area drug-free.
The next fundraising event will be a bus trip to New York City on Dec. 8 to attend a talent show, at which one of the performers at last week’s event, Mike Check, is a finalist. Full details on that event aren’t yet available, Ms. Anderson said.
