DEC closes Oysterponds boat ramp

The Oysterponds boat ramp in East Marion has been closed since damage to one of the concrete slabs has created a potentially hazardous condition, the DEC said Tuesday.
The damage is suspected to have occurred due to adverse weather in recent weeks, the DEC said.  The organization is currently determining the extent of the damage and a potential repair schedule. Barricades will be placed at the ramp entrance until proper repairs can be completed.
Boaters will be asked to use the Mattituck Creek waterway access site as an alternative, the DEC said.
