Stanley J. Moisa

Stanley J. “Babe” Moisa of Greenport died Nov. 16, 2010, at the age of 89.
Born in Orient on May 23, 1921, to Joseph and Mary (née Bokar) Moisa, he was raised there and graduate from Greenport High School.
On Nov. 3, 1946, he married the former Mary Slivonick and together they made their home in Orient until 1964, when they moved to Greenport.
“Babe” was a longtime farmer in Orient and then worked as an animal handler at the Plum Island Animal Disease Research Center.
In the community, he was a 60-year member of the Greenport Fire Department Standard Hose Company and a former member of the Orient Fire Department. He was a communicant of St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport and a member of Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Patricia A. Clark (Jack) of Mattituck; a brother, Henry Moisa of Orient; three grandsons, William S. Clark, Terrence J. Clark and Thomas M. Clark; and five great-grandchildren.
The family received friends on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home, where firematic services and parish prayer services were held that evening. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, Nov. 18, at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church by Father Thomas P. Murray. Interment was at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery.
