Artbeat: Preservation Hall Jazz Band to perform ‘Creole Christmas’

• The Arts in Southold Town will present the Preservation Hall Jazz Band performing a ‘Creole Christmas’ show at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, in the Southold High School auditorium.
According to a press release, the Jazz Band musicians “are the unofficial ambassadors from New Orleans, America’s jazz capital, spreading their hi-energy, foot-stomping, hand-clapping Dixieland jazz sound around the world. ”
Tickets are $40 or $10 for students under 18. They can be reserved by calling 734-6320 or purchased at Barth’s Drug Store in Riverhead, JET’s Dream and Special Effects in Greenport, Peconic Liquors in Cutchogue, Cecily’s Love Lane Gallery in Mattituck and Old Country Charm in Southold.
• Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport will host a ‘Holiday Flower Arrangement’ workshop with Richard Corbin of Clawflowers in Greenport Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. Cost is $20 for materials to make a winter centerpiece. Call 631-477-0660 to register.
• Studio East Gallery in Greenport will host its second annual Open House Holiday Party Saturday, Dec. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.
• The ‘Deck the Halls Open House’ will be held Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 11 and 12, at Old Town Art and Crafts Guild in Cutchogue, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. A chinese auction will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday.
• The second annual Holiday Jam Dance Party, a benefit concert by Center Stage, will be held Friday, Dec. 10, 7-11 p.m., at Polish Hall in Riverhead. The concert benefits the East End Arts Council School of the Arts. Local students Justice Winter of Riverhead and Kira Buckel of Cutchogue will perform  with the band.
Tickets are $15 each or $125 for a table of 10 and are available at the EEAC in Riverhead or by calling 631-727-0900.
• East End Arts Council will offer a monotype printmaking workshop Saturday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the EEAC Carriage House in Riverhead. Cost is $72 for members and $90 for non-members. Call 631-369-2171 to register.
• The South Street Gallery in Greenport will feature ‘10 x 10 = 100,’ a show to benefit North Fork Environmental Council and Robert J. Perry Jr. Day Care Center. After a preview on Friday, Dec. 10, the original 10-by-10-inch works go on sale Saturday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. for  $100 each. Call 631-477-0021.
• The Beach Plum Gift Shop at the Oysterponds Historical Society will feature ‘Holiday Artistree,’ ornament-sized works by local artists, on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 11 and 12. All works are under $50 and will benefit OHS.
