Opened in May 2010, San Simeon by the Sound Nursing and Rehabilitation Center’s Adult Day Health Care Program provides daytime medical care for those in need, enabling them to remain living in their homes while still getting the assistance they need. The program’s motto, “Keeping families together, longer,” sums up the program’s mission and goal.

The program is available from one to five days, as needed. “Our health professionals work with the registrant’s doctor to manage their medical needs while offering case management, social work, nutritional counsel, recreational programs and professional nursing,” said Emily Clark, director of development.

Clients have access to medical professionals such as the dentist, optometrist and podiatrist, as well as physical and occupational therapists.

San Simeon offers door-to-door transportation, and program costs can be covered by Medicaid or paid through private funding or certain long-term health insurances.

San Simeon by the Sound Adult Day Health Care is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Visit them online at sansimeonbythesound.org.
