Health Beat: Free hearing tests at Mattituck-Laurel Library Thursday

• Audiologist Dr. Barbara Prestano from Peconic ENT will conduct free hearing tests at Mattituck-Laurel Library on Thursday, Jan. 6, 1-3 p.m.

The library will also host low-impact dance aerobics with instructor Laurie Short for eight weeks beginning Monday, Jan. 10, 9-10 a.m. with Bring a mat, a pair of 3- to 5-pound dumbbells and a water bottle to class. The fee for the program is $40. No classes Jan. 17 and Feb. 21. Call 298-4134.

• Vivian Grant has been named employee of the month for November at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She joined the staff there 10 years ago through the certified nurses aide training program and now works the 3 to 11 p.m. shift in San Simeon’s new west wing. Ms. Grant came to Greenport in 1990 from Brooklyn, where she was raised. “I love my residents,” she said.
