Four people were taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital after a motor vehicle accident on Route 48 in Cutchogue Thursday.

Southold Town Police said that Giuseppi Racanelli, 86, of Cutchogue was driving north on Depot Lane when he failed to yield the right of way to a pickup truck driven by Harold Thilberg, 79, of East Marion who was driving west on Route 48 causing Mr. Thilberg’s truck to roll over.

Two ambulances and one heavy rescue truck from the Cutchogue Fire Department rescue squad responded to the crash. Both drivers, along with passengers Rosa Racanelli, 85, and Dorothy Thilberg, 74, were taken to ELIH.

Westbound traffic was re-routed to Route 25Thursday afternoon.
