Gladys Jaworecki

Gladys Jaworecki, a longtime resident of Orient, died Sunday, January 9, 2011, at the age of 79.

She was born in Port Washington, N.Y., on May 19, 1931, to Edwin H. and Jennie Lewis. On June 9, 1957, she married Joseph Jaworecki in Greenport.

For over 20 years, she was a bank teller at the Bank of New York in Greenport. She enjoyed Foxwoods and good conversation and will be remembered for her love of her grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1995, she leaves her children, Michael, of Westbury, Edwin, of Gladys, Va., Claire Glew of Southold and Susan Pontino of Mattituck; her siblings, Edwin Lewis of Port Washington and Catherine Perrotto of Palm Coast, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren: Michael Jaworecki Jr., Christian Jaworecki, Edwin Jarowecki Jr., Meghan Irby, Alyssa Reynolds, Kevin Glew, Benjamin Glew, Joseph Padworski, Alexander Padworski and Dylan Padworski; and four great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by siblings Edna Erickson, Anita Chorlton and Grace Strockbine.

The family received friends at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church in Southold by the Rev. Peter Garry. Interment followed at St. Agnes R.C. Cemetery in Greenport.
