Southold Blotter: Two hospitalized in separate accidents

Two people were taken to local hospitals after motor vehicle accidents during what otherwise seemed a quiet week in Southold Town, according to town police logs.

• A 44-year-old Peconic woman was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center Sunday afternoon, after her snowmobile failed to make a turn at a vineyard in Peconic and struck a fence post. The woman, Valerie Hallock, was thrown from the vehicle on impact and struck the fence at about 2:16 p.m., according to police reports.

• A 17-year-old pedestrian was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center on the afternoon of Jan. 14, after he was hit by a car at the entrance to a parking lot on Route 25 in Mattituck. Police said Marcus Burden, 58, of Mattituck was pulling out of the parking lot and did not see Anjel Gonzalez of Calverton as Mr. Gonzalez was crossing the entrance to the parking lot in front of Mr. Burden’s car.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
