Southold-Peconic: Southold library offers AARP driver-safety program

It was great to see so many people enjoying the Southold Fire Department’s steak night last Saturday. Despite the rain, a record crowd packed the main house and the dinner was a sell-out. Thanks to all who supported SFD.

Congratulations to Krystyna and Brian Duffy on the Feb. 1 arrival of their first child, daughter Skylar Marie. She weighed six pounds and was born at 2:47 p.m. She is the first granddaughter for David and Monica Surozenski of Southold, joining her cousins Jacob, Jonathan and Justin.

Peggy Murphy is delighted to announce the addition of great-grandson David Michael Dickerson to the family tree. Born on Jan. 22, David is the grandson of Rob Dow, who grew up in Southold. Little David’s great-grandmother certainly hopes he’ll spend vacations here like his mother, Christa, often did.

An AARP driver safety program will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, at Southold Free Library from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a half-hour lunch break. The fee is $12 for AARP members and $14 for others. A check payable to AARP is the only acceptable form of payment. Call 765-2077 to register.

Birthday wishes go out to Jonathan Mann, who turns 4, on Feb. 12 along with Brian McCleery, John Pontino and Ivan Santiago. Brenda Flaherty and Shauna Steele celebrate on the 15th and Karen Van Bourgondien on the 16th.

Don’t forget to let that special someone know you’re thinking of them on Monday, Valentine’s Day. It also happens to be the day Bill and I were married. In the 12 years we’ve been married, he hasn’t forgotten our anniversary or Valentine’s Day yet!
