Five more inches of snow expected to fall today

North Fork snowfall totals could total as much as five inches today, according to the National Weather Service in Upton.

A winter weather advisory in effect until 4 p.m. tonight.

The East End is expected to be hit the hardest from this storm. The Weather Service reported that one inch had already fallen in Mattituck by 7 a.m. today.

“A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties,” a weather service advisory states. “Watch out for slippery roads.”

A high temperature of 35 degrees is predicted for today, and snow could pick up again overnight and into the morning commute Tuesday.
