Achievements

• Navy Seaman Recruit Hakeem Black recently completed an eight-week U.S. Navy basic training program at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill., which culminated in the “Battle Stations” exercise, a practical application of basic Navy skills and core values. A 2010 Mattituck High School graduate, he is the son of Connise Black and stepson of James Williams of Cutchogue.

Julia Petersen of Cutchogue has earned a place on the dean’s list for the fall 2010 semester at SUNY/Binghamton’s College of Community and Public Affairs.

Monica Malcomson of Mattituck was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2010 semester at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., where she is a sophomore. She was also selected for the National Competitive Dance Team and will compete in Florida during spring break. Monica skates with and is artistic director for the school’s figure skating team, the current world ISI champions.

Jenny Knoeller of Cutchogue, a 2009 graduate of Mattituck High School, has been named to the dean’s list for fall 2010 at Drew University in Madison, N.J.

Harriet Bondarchuk of East Marion, daughter of Laura Bondarchuk, has been named to the fall term dean’s list at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y., where she is an art major.

Jacob Boergesson, a 2010 Southold High School graduate, has made the fall 2010 dean’s list at the Hart School at the University of Hartford, where he is majoring in music education.

Darrin Standish has earned a place on the fall 2010 President’s List at Southern New Hampshire University, where he is a freshman majoring in justice studies and a member of the varsity baseball team. He is the son of Jeffrey and Lauren Standish of Southold.

Thomas Smith of Cutchogue has been named to the fall 2010 dean’s list at Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at SUNY/Binghamton.
