During the nearly two hour event at the Greenport United Methodist Church the four candidates in the running for three positions discussed a broad range of topics, including a $3 million repair project for the Mitchell Park Marina, how to bolster the business community and how the village could assist in the restoration of the American Legion Hall.

Mayor David Nyce is running unopposed for a second four-year term. The only other incumbent in the race, Trustee George Hubbard Jr, Historic Preservation Commission Chairman David Murray and former Trustee Bill Swiskey are seeking two Village Board seats.

Voting takes place on March 15 at the Third Street Firehouse from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Why do we need a Village Board in Greenport. We have a Town Board in Southold. I am not paying additional taxes for someone who extra time on their hands. Go and get a real job like the rest of us taxpayers.

  • Really? That’s your comment on this article, to turn the Village over to the town?

  • First of all, get a grasp of the English language. Second, are you really as much of an idiot as you appear to be out here in these forums? You are nothing but a loud-mouth whiner that has nothing to contribute and nothing to do but complain about your pathetic life. Please, please, please do us all a favor and move somewhere far away.
