Video: Village Board candidates talk issues at Suffolk Times debate

The candidates for seats on the Greenport Village Board squared off in their only face-to-face meeting Thursday night in a debate sponsored by The Suffolk Times.

During the nearly two hour event at the Greenport United Methodist Church the four candidates in the running for three positions discussed a broad range of topics, including a $3 million repair project for the Mitchell Park Marina, how to bolster the business community and how the village could assist in the restoration of the American Legion Hall.

Mayor David Nyce is running unopposed for a second four-year term. The only other incumbent in the race, Trustee George Hubbard Jr, Historic Preservation Commission Chairman David Murray and former Trustee Bill Swiskey are seeking two Village Board seats.

Voting takes place on March 15 at the Third Street Firehouse from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
