Joan Frisicano, who began as interim principal at Oysterponds in December and became interim superintendent late this winter after the board completed its buyout of Stuart Rachlin’s contract, was named permanent part-time superintendent at the school board’s meeting Tuesday night.
Board members interviewed several candidates Tuesday night but they voted unanimously to stay with the woman they have come to know and respect, said board president Deborah Dumont.
Many of the candidates were impressive and might have been named had Ms. Frisicano not sought the job, she said. But given the months of smooth operations between Ms. Frisicano and board members, it seemed appropriate to tap her for the job.
The hunt now continues for a permanent full-time principal.
