Marjorie Austin Morris

Marjorie Austin Morris of Greenport died May 31 at Eastern Long Island Hospital. She was 85.

She was born April 13, 1926, in Summit, N.J., to Marjorie (Stout) and Charles Linnell Austin. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Bennett College in Millbrook, N.Y., and married Dr. John McLean Morris on Feb. 14, 1950, in Short Hills, N.J. They lived in New Haven, Conn., for over 50 years, where they raised their children and where she worked as a realtor with H. Pearce Company.

Ms. Morris was a volunteer with Planned Parenthood and a member of Colonial Dames of America, New York chapter. Family members said she loved to travel, play tennis and work in her garden.

Predeceased by her husband in 1993, she is survived by her partner, Charles F. Booth of Greenport; her daughters, Marjorie Cave of St. Charles, Ill., Christina Raymond of Bronxville, N.Y., Constance Jaroway of Newton, Mass., and Virginia, of Sag Harbor; her son, Robert, of Seattle, Wash.; her sisters, Jane Morton of Palo Alto, Calif., and Anne Williams of Basking Ridge, N.J.; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements were in the care of Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A service will take place Saturday, June 11, at 3 p.m. at Dwight Chapel, Yale University, New Haven, Conn.
