Police raid homes in Greenport, make multiple drug arrests

A slew of suspected Greenport narcotics dealers and a Shirley resident who police said trafficked in heroin were arrested during the past two weeks following an investigation by  Southold Town Police and the East End Drug Task Force, police said.

Police said one of the suspects was found with 650 packets of heroin and was bringing the drug to Greenport for distribution. The charges are a mix of felonies and misdemeanors.

On June 3, police executed a search warrant at the Broad Street, Greenport home of Jeffrey Jackson, 48, setting off a series of events that led to the arrest of Mr. Jackson and seven other suspected drug dealers. Investigators reportedly found heroin, cocaine and marijuana, according to police.

Mr. Jackson was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, narcotic criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree for using drug scales in his home, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police also seized a “substantial amount of cash,” according to reports.

Mr. Jackson was arraigned in Southold Town Justice Court and held on $52,000 cash bail.

On June 14, police arrested Michael Ragone, 21, of Farmvue Road in Mattituck and charged him with criminal sale of marijuana in the third degree. His bail was set at $1,000 cash.

On June 15, Leon Creighton and Peter Griffin of Greenport, both 39, and Roger Gaud, 40, formerly of Greenport but now of Shirley, were arrested on  several drug charges

Mr. Creighton was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, narcotic criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree for allegedly using drug scales. He was  held on $101,000 cash bail.

Peter Griffin was charged with both criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell and narcotic criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree. He was held on $50,000 cash bail.

Roger Gaud was arrested in Shirley, police said. He was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell.

Also on June 15, Lashawn Lawrence, 27, of Second Street, Greenport was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree. He was ordered held without bail because of numerous prior felony convictions.

On June 17, police executed a search warrant at a Washington Avenue, Greenport residence where cocaine, marijuana and “a substantial sum of cash” were seized, according to police reports. Police arrested Lavain Creighton, 41 and Erica Hansen, 34 at that address and charged both with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and unlawful possession of marijuana.

They also face two counts of unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree and one count of endangering the welfare of a child for “permitting children under the age of 17 to remain upon a premises where drug activity was occurring,” according to police reports.

Bail was set at $6,000 for Mr. Creighton and $1,000 for Ms. Hansen.
