James DeLuna

Former Mattituck resident James DeLuna, known as “Jim,” died suddenly June 24 at the age of 42.

He was born April 14, 1969, in Smithtown to Evelyn and Vito DeLuna. He lived on Elijah’s Lane for many years and graduated from Mattituck High School in 1987. Family members said he loved having fun with his children, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was a kind, fun-loving person who would lend anyone a helping hand, they said.

Mr. DeLuna is survived by his children, Jessica and Jimmy; his longtime companion, Lisa Walling; his brother Robert, of New York City; his mother, of Riverhead; his father, of Southold; and his grandmother, Martha Grosse of St. James. He was predeceased by his brother Edward in 1998.

Funeral arrangements were made in Cortland, N.Y., where interment will take place Thursday, June 30.
