Cutchogue-New Suffolk: Offerings aplenty at the library

‘Bands on the Beach’ will be presented by Guidance Center and Communities That Care on Saturday, July 16, from noon to 10 p.m. at Founders Landing Park in Southold. Bands scheduled to perform include The Blazin’ Beaverducks, Project Thalen, Urbanoid, Nuclear Funeral and more. $10 admission. Brown bag it or barbecue at the park. Refreshments will be available. All proceeds benefit teen events.

Robert Strimban of Cutchogue is pleased that two of his sculptures were chosen for the juried sculpture garden exhibition on the grounds of Brecknock Hall in Greenport, co-sponsored by Peconic Landing and East End Arts Council. The show opened July 2 and is open weekends through November (free admission). Check it out.

The Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council buildings on the Village Green are open Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, 1 to 4 p.m, until Labor Day. There’s no admission charge.

Get in from the heat at Cutchogue New Suffolk Library. The mezzanine gallery features “The Creative World of Marilyn Uhl-Utz.” This week kids ages 5-8 can have fun with Lego-Mania Jr. on Thursday, July 7, 2-3 p.m. ; Tigers on Tippy Toes for ages 2 and 3 on Friday, July 8, 10-10:30 a.m.; Aloha Luau, ages 4 and 5, also July 8, 6:30-7:15 p.m.; and Yoga for Kids, ages 3-12, Mondays, July 11-Aug. 22, 11:30 a.m.-noon. For adults, the library offers Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes on the beach, Thursdays, July 7-Aug. 11, 5-6 p.m., $60 for the series; free hearing screenings, Thursday, July 7, 2 p.m. followed by a seminar on technological advances in hearing healthcare at 3 p.m; yoga classes, Thursdays, July 7-Sept. 8, 6-7:30 p.m. $60 for series; and “The Power of Clarity” with Monica Bennett, Tuesday, July 12, 6:30 p.m. covering topics such as empowering decisions, solving problems, heightening creativity and controlling behavior. Register for all, 734-6360. Animal lovers can meet animals in need of homes on Saturday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to noon when the North Fork Animal Welfare League visits the library.
