Slide Show: Oysterponds Heritage Day Parade

The Oysterponds Historical Society hosted its first Heritage Day Parade Saturday afternoon in Orient. Children rode down Village Lane on patriotically-decorated bicycles accompanied by members of the Orient Fire Department, several vintage vehicles and a bagpiper. After the parade, a reading of the Declaration of Independence was held at the Old Point Schoolhouse and the North Fork Chorale performed patriotic songs. A picnic featuring games for children and an open mic for local musicians followed.
