The Cornell Gardeners held its annual Open Gardens Day event on Saturday at the Cornell University Long Island Horticultural Research & Extension Center in Riverhead. Visitors toured several perennial and annual gardens on the 68-acre property, including: the Herb Garden, the Bulb Garden, Fragrance Garden, Evergreen Garden, Cottage Garden, Dahlia Garden, Victory Garden and the Bloom Garden, which is named after landscape designer Adrian Bloom. Visitors also toured the group’s “research gardens” where problems relating to plant diseases and entomology are studied.
