Cutchogue-New Suffolk: Summer Jam and Wellness Fair slated for July 16

Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council’s summertime exhibit this year is “The American Child, 1600-1900.” It explores changing practices and beliefs related to childhood through furniture, portraits and toys of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The exhibit opens this Saturday, July 16, at the Schoolhouse on Cutchogue Village Green and runs through Aug. 20. Hours are Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call June Metzner, 734-7113.

A very special happy birthday on July 15 to Louis Corso from his 22-month-old granddaughter, Marin, and her mother, Monica.

Tom and Barbara Mercier practice what they preach. Most recently, they visited Uganda on a missionary trip. Listening to Barbara describe the torrential rains and being surrounded by gunfire with such conviction and passion, one couldn’t help but see that she’s answering a calling. Hearing how Tom was less passionate about the experience, but dedicated nonetheless, left one feeling that the depth of his love for his beloved wife is that of which dreams are made! God bless!

Speaking of dreams, Lauren Ciappetta and David Berry are making one of their own come true. Their recent trip to Hawaii was an opportunity for a magical moment when David got down on one knee and popped the question. Congratulations and may your days be filled with dreams come true!

Calling all teens! The Town of Southold Youth Bureau invites you to this year’s Summer Jam, featuring a Wellness Fair with information on the hottest topics affecting today’s youth, Zumba demonstrations, karaoke, food, games and raffle prizes and more! Bring a friend to the Southold Recreation Center on Saturday, July 16, noon to 4 p.m.

Congratulations to Susie and Jeff Smith on the baptism of their granddaughter, Olivia Mae. God bless!

Some of you may remember that my son Sam traveled to Israel this past December as a member of Suffolk Y’s HAMSA program. This week, the yearlong program culminates with Israeli participants visiting their American counterparts. So we welcome Yael to our home as she and Sam embark on a week of sightseeing and exploration in Washington, D.C., NYC and Long Island.
