Beat the heat: Southold Town opens cooling centers

Anyone looking for a break from the heat and humidity can stop at one of two Southold Town cooling centers, in Mattituck and Peconic, through 10 p.m. Thursday, said Supervisor Scott Russell.

The cooling centers are the town Human Resource Center at 750 Pacific Street in Mattituck and the town Recreation Center at 970 Peconic Lane in Peconic
