Graffiti arrest; car damaged in deer hit, driver slightly injured

A man from Shirley was allegedly found spray painting graffiti on the wall of the Greenport skate park Saturday night, according to Southold  Town Police.

Police said that Dustin James Moore, 32, was found spray painting the letters “RE” on the wall of the skate park just before 10:30 p.m. He was charged with making graffiti, taken to headquarters to be processed and released on $100 bail.

A 54-year-old Greenport man went to the hospital Saturday afternoon with minor injuries after his SUV struck a deer.

Yosuke Takemoto was driving eastbound on Route 48 in a 2006 Toyota SUV near the intersection of Route 48 and Chapel Lane when a deer ran across the road. After the collision, the deer tumbled over the SUV, caving in its windshield and crumpling its roof.

Mr. Takemoto was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital by the Greenport Fire Department rescue squad and treated for minor cuts.
