“The Sopranos” filmed twice in Riverhead years ago, and now another HBO series about organized crime is filming here too.

The Riverhead Town Board on Thursday authorized Supervisor Sean Walter to sign a license agreement with Bootleg Productions to allow them to shoot some scenes of the show “Boardwalk Empire” on an undisclosed Riverhead farm next week.

“Boardwalk Empire,” which was nominated for 18 Emmy Awards, including best drama series, is about government corruption during the beginning of prohibition in Atlantic City in the 1920s.

The town will be paid $156 per hour for use of police personnel as security on the set and $10 per hour for use of a police vehicle, for a sum total of $2,823.

Meanwhile, the episode of the American version of the show “Top Gear” that was filmed at EPCAL on June 6 aired last week on the History Channel. In that show, the three hosts each bought a used luxury car for $1,000 in New Jersey and had to try and pass it off as new in the Hamptons. They performed speed tests at EPCAL.
