Peconic woman charged with DWI on Route 48

Southold Police charged Shannon Hofsiss, 25, of Peconic with DWI just after 6 a.m. Thursday, after she was stopped for failing to maintain her lane of travel while driving on Route 48 in Peconic.

Police said they noticed the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath when interviewing Ms. Hofsiss.

In addition to DWI, Ms. Hofsiss was charged with failing to maintain her lane of travel and aggravated unlicensed operation. She was taken to police headquarters and held overnight for a morning arraignment.
