Former Greenport restaurateur gets good NY Times review

The Riverhead Project, the upscale downtown Riverhead restaurant former Frisky Oyster owner Dennis McDermott opened this spring, got a glowing write-up on the New York Times website Friday.

“The Riverhead Project is an upscale, white-tablecloth place with a clientele to match,” the review states. “On a midweek night, the patrons all seemed to know one another. The lounge off the bar is a fantastic gathering place, separated from the dining room by a glass wall, with cushy seating on seven backless couches. Both the lounge and the dining room have outdoor patios.”

Writer Joanne Starkey says Mr. McDermott’s newest eatery “looks like a Hamptons transplant.”
