Only 233 Southold Town customers remain affected by power outages caused during Tropical Storm Irene last weekend, according to the most recent numbers released by the Long Island Power Authority.
The bulk of the outages remain in Mattituck, where LIPA said the remaining 155 customers with no power should have their situations resolved by 7:30 p.m. Laurel (22), which had the fewest outages on the North Fork just yesterday, and Southold hamlet (21) are the only other local communities with more than 20 outages remaining.
Southold has the fourth fewest remaining outages of any Suffolk township. Only Riverhead (50) Shelter Island (fewer than 5) and East Hampton (81) have less.
