Blotter: Mattituck man charged with DWI following crash

A Mattituck man was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center and arrested for DWI at 6:35 a.m. on Monday, after he was found pinned behind his steering wheel after an accident on Route 25 in Mattituck. Police said that Ryan T. Cornell, 20, was eastbound on Route 25 when his car left the roadway and struck a telephone pole and a guardrail, then crossed over into the westbound roadway and struck a tree.

• Cutchogue resident Chester Friszolowski, 49, was charged with aggravated harassment after a domestic disturbance at his home on Tuesday just after 11:30 a.m.

• A Fleetwood Road, Cutchogue resident reported on Sept. 1 that a laptop, Wi-Fi antenna and a set of headphones were stolen from the house while it was empty during the day. Police said that the burglar apparently gained entrance to the house through a torn window screen.

• A Fifth St., Greenport resident reported on Sept. 3 that, while she left her home between Aug. 26 and Sept. 3 to avoid Hurricane Irene, someone stole a bottle of tequila and a television set from her condominium.

• Irene Barrett, 73, of Quiogue, was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital just before 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 30, after she reportedly fell asleep at the wheel while driving on Route 25 in East Marion and hit two parked cars.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
