A grand opening tour of Southold Town’s new Peconic Lane Community Center was held Monday night in Peconic.
Supervisor Scott Russell welcomed several dozen members of the community, thanking them for making the beautiful transformation of the old Peconic School building “beautiful and cheap.”
A display of historic Peconic photographs and informational documents researched and prepared by Southold Town historian Antonia Booth was a highlight of the tour.
Three classrooms that once held schoolchildren are now sparkling new conference or activity areas where classes and seminars will soon be in session.
A fourth room, larger than the others, is still under renovation and its future use is still open for discussion.[nggallery id=177 template=galleryview]
