Greenport wastewater treatment plant delayed

While most work on the new village wastewater treatment plant is expected to be finished this fall, the Greenport Village Board gave Phillip Ross Industries until Dec. 31 for “substantial completion” on the facility, and until March 16, 2012 for site restoration.

The spring extension was granted because of the need to plant landscaping during that season, Mayor David Nyce said.

The need for more time resulted from last winter’s brutal storms and a rainy spring, the mayor said.
