Today in sports: Playoff-bound Tuckers host Hampton Bays

The Hampton Bays boys soccer team always seems to get up for a game against Mattituck. The Tuckers were reminded of that earlier this month when they lost to the Baymen, 2-0.

Today the Tuckers will get a shot at revenge when the two teams meet again in Mattituck at 4:30 p.m.

With Southampton (14-0-1, 11-0 in Suffolk County League VII) having already locked up the league championship, Mattituck (9-5, 6-4) and Hampton Bays (7-6, 5-4) are battling for second place.

The Tuckers clinched a playoff berth on Friday with a 3-0 win in Wyandanch. Tyler Connell scored twice and David Burkhardt contributed a goal and two assists, according to Newsday.com.

That same day, Hampton Bays ran over Bishop McGann-Mercy, 7-0, as Andres Tapia struck for a hat trick, the web site reported.
