Boulder Creek in Riverhead closes, auctions off restaurant equipment

JENNIFER GUSTAVSON PHOTO | Boulder Creek in Riverhead has closed and its equipment is being auctioned off.

Have you ever wanted to take a piece of Boulder Creek Steakhouse in Riverhead home with you? Now you can.

The Route 58 restaurant has closed and a liquidation company will be auctioning off all its utensils, appliances and decor until 6:30 p.m today, Monday.

About 20 to 30 people lined up this afternoon to try to score the restaurant’s equipment. Representatives from the Manhattan-based Michael Amodeo Auctioneers and Liquidators, which was overseeing the auction, estimated about 90 percent of the merchandise should by sold by the end of the day.

The 7,000-square-foot property has been listed as “for lease” on Ripco Real Estate’s website since August.

Jeremy Isaacs, the agent handling the listing, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

It is not clear what date the restaurant closed. There are no numbers listed on the Boulder Creek website, which says the chain has locations in Bay Shore, Franklin Square, College Point, Brooklyn, Hicksville and Riverhead.

Boulder Creek is the second store to close in the Riverhead Centre shopping center in as many months. In September, nearby Borders books shuttered its doors as the national retail chain went out of business.
